🗺️ Map

The Map page lets you explore your family history geographically. Each person can have a primary location, residences, immigration paths, and other map-based details. You can search for people, click pins to view details, and open the Add Person or Edit Person pages directly from the map.

đź’  What You Can Do on This Page

  • Search for people by name and center the map on them
  • Click pins to view basic details about a person
  • Open the Edit Person page from a map pin
  • Add new people using the map as a starting point
  • View residences and immigration paths (if available)

đź’  Search and Results

At the top of the Map page, you can search for a person by name. As you type, matching people appear in a list. Selecting a person:

  • Centers the map on that person’s primary location
  • Highlights or opens that person’s map pin

đź’  Map Pins

Each person with a primary location appears as a pin on the map. Clicking a pin typically shows:

  • Person’s name and basic life dates
  • Primary location (city, state, country)
  • Buttons or links to Edit Person or View Details

đź’  Residences and Immigration

If a person has residences or immigration events, these may appear as additional markers or paths on the map. You can manage these details on the Edit Person page.

đź’  Adding or Editing People from the Map

  • Use Add Person to create a new person and place them on the map.
  • Click a pin and choose Edit Person to update an existing person.
